“King of the Silver Screen”

December 10, 2009

Not by any coincidence, there’s never been an undisputed “King of the Silver Screen.” Through the history of cinema, there have been a number of kings, but not a singular one for all times. In his time, Chaplin was a king, but so was Gable, Brando, Heston, Elvis, Astaire, Valentino, Flynn, Bogart, Olivier, Eastwood, Newman, Nicholson, and more recently, De Niro, Pacino, so the list goes on. Yet, Alice Cooper’s “King of the Silver Screen” suggests that it could be anybody.

On all accounts, “King of the Silver Screen” is a funny song that colors the imagination. It begins with a common blue collar working man with an alter ego, much like Bruce Wayne who becomes Batman, only, he becomes the King of the Silver Screen, in his bed, at night. Once he allows his mind to run, he can be dancing alongside Astaire or fighting villains as Zorro, no, not the guy who says “Hi-yo, Silver, away!” Yes, he can be a legendary detective like Sherlock Homes or even Tarzan, the King of the Jungle. In another time, he could have been Valentino or Flynn.

Then, “King of the Silver Screen” becomes “Queen of the Silver Screen.” The next day, he goes to work as Greta Garbo, blinded by all the Hollywood movies in his mind. Obviously, the guys at the construction site find him a little queer, and it’s true, he’s the queer “Queen of the Silver Screen.” Now, he’s showing everybody he’s actually a woman trapped in a man’s body, choosing to eat his makeup instead of hamburgers. Weighing all of 240 pounds, he’s going to Hollywood to get married with some rich man. The song ends with the classic line “Frankly, Scarlet, I don’t give a damn.”

Now, this is the question. Would you give a damn if you know that you can earn instant cash for silver? In the event that you have some silver to sell, you better go to this silver buyer!
