Is Kate Moss Worth Her Weight in Gold?

Later this fall, visitors to the British Museum will be able to gaze at a whole lot of gold. A sculptor, who is also from Britain, has made a 110-pound statue made of gold. The statue has been given an estimated value of $2.8 million.

So what did this artist use 110 pounds of gold to make? In this case, it was used to make a statue of fashion model Kate Moss. Previously, in 2006, this artist made a bronze statue, also of Moss. That bronze statue was called Sphinx and this new statue made of gold is called Siren. Both statues depict Moss in a yoga pose. No one knows exactly why this artist decided to use bronze and gold to sculpt the same model twice.

To put it mildly, one hundred and ten pounds is quite a substantial amount of gold to be turned into a statue. But who are we to judge? If you get a hold of that much gold, you can do what you wish with it.

Here is one suggestion for you if you have gold, be it 110 pounds or 1 gold necklace: selling gold. Gold is nice to look at and very decorative, but there are times when you can put it to better use. Selling your gold to a gold buyer means you'll have something more utilitarian to look at: cash for gold. The money you get when you sell your gold won't draw visitors like the gold statue of Kate Moss, but it may help you to fund some travel and visiting of your own.
