With Christmas just a few days away, people who are looking to do some last minute shopping can consider this lovely Peruvian silver jewelry collection but otherwise, they will make nice gifts for almost any occasion. These handcrafted gifts are made with a distinctive touch which is highly exotic and original. Let’s take a further look.

The great thing about this silver collection is that you can get a matching set of bracelet, necklace, and a pair of earrings, which is definitely a good thing for people who are short on gift ideas. Get a bracelet for her birthday, get a necklace for Valentine’s, and a pair of earrings another time. Of course, you can get a different set each time too.

In terms of craftsmanship, design, and novelty, the Tikanchay silver jewelry collection is truly extraordinary. There’s the “Amazon Butterfly Silver Cuff Bracelet,” the “Amazon Butterfly Silver Necklace,” and the “Amazon Silver Earrings.” The special thing about these items is that they have genuine butterfly wings from the Amazon rainforest. Another outstanding piece is the “Stone and Shell Silver Bracelet.” Composed of chrysocolla stone, mother of pearl, Peruvian turquoise, and spondylus shell, this sterling silver piece is colorful, elegant, and stylish at the same time. It can be complemented with the “Peruvian Turquoise Sterling Silver Earrings” and the “Peruvian Turquoise Silver Pendant on Silver Chain.”

If you are looking for something with some form of Peruvian art, consider the “Pair of Doves Gourd Necklace.” It showcases the intricate art of Peruvian craving encased within a silver pendant. The image shows a pair of doves in dense foliage. There are other interesting silver items with unmistakable Peruvian flavor. Just look around.

Generally, investing in silver jewelry is a smart choice. Since silver is a valuable metal, there’s always a silver buyer who’s looking to pay top dollar for silver. You can get instant cash for silver now!

You’ve heard the term “Sterling Silver”, typically when referring to fine dining flatware, serving pieces or quality jewelry, but what exactly is sterling silver?

Sterling silver is an alloy (a combination of metals) containing 92.5% of pure silver and 7.5% of other metals. Typically the other metal selected for the alloy is copper. Fine silver as compared to sterling silver is 99.9% pure silver and considered too soft for large pieces and implements. Sterling silver as it is stronger is the preferred metal for silver jewelry, flatware, and quality silver serving pieces and decorative items.

In recent years, alloys other than copper have appeared being used with silver. Some of these alloys are being made from zinc, platinum, germanium and include other elements such as silicon or boron. These new alloys have appeared in an effort to find a combination that inhibits tarnish which is the bane of any sterling silver owner. Copper however, continues even to this day, in being the preferred alloy for sterling silver manufacture.

The term sterling silver originated in northern Germany in the 12th century. At this time, the term sterling received its meaning from possibly several sources: (1) the purity level of 92.5% pure silver, (2) possibly from the term of sterling in regards the common name of coins of the time, or (3) from sterling meaning sturdy, firm, or immovable. Regardless of how the term sterling has come to us through the years, today the term sterling silver simply denotes quality and that a 92.5% purity of silver has been used in a creation of the product.

All sterling silver will tarnish over time when exposed to the air through a simple oxidation process. Sterling silver is still considered the best precious metal for decorative and quality serving products such as coffee sets, decorative bowls, elegant dining flatware, serving pieces, and pitchers.

If you have silver pieces in your cabinet that no longer hold their decorative charm, appear dated, are unusable due to breakage, or sterling silver jewelry that you no longer cherish, now’s the time to consider contacting Cash for Silver for a free appraisal of the silver value.

The large amount of silver found at Menander’s house in Pompeii is raising a lot of questions to this day. Pompeii was destroyed when a Mt. Vesuvius erupted and the city and its inhabitants were covered with lava, poisonous gas and volcanic ash.

Menander, an inhabitant of this summer playground for Rome’s wealthy, left behind a lot of silver objects that people are still puzzling over.

For example, one scholar divided the silver jewelry and silver flatware and silver dining service by the class of who would have used these silver objects.

One conclusion that was drawn was that the silver jewelry belongs to a woman. You can imagine how a scholar could come to this conclusion because certain pieces of silver jewelry would have been associated with women, just as certain pieces of jewelry are today. Some of the silver jewelry was sized for an adult, while some of it would have fit a child. And some of the silver rings could have belongs to a man. The conclusion drawn was that this set of silver jewelry belonged to a woman who had her own silver pieces, kept some from childhood and also had some silver jewelry that belonged to her husband or a male relative.

But they admit that it could also be argued that a man might have kept his own silver jewelry along with that of his wife, females relative or child.

So that also leads to the idea that this hoard of silver jewelry belonged to more than one person. Who can really say? It is interesting to read about how those who investigate relics of the past find way to interpret what may or may not have happened. Although in this case, I hate to say it, but their conclusions are kind of obvious. The silver jewelry had to be the property of a woman or a man or of more than one person. Maybe everyone in the house, owners, servants, visitors and all threw their silver jewelry into one box each night before they went to bed. Well, that conclusion is not very likely, but anything is possible.

If you have some silver jewelry that for some reason is stored in your house and you are not sure who it belongs to, remember that a silver buyer will be more than happy to help you when you decide to sell silver jewelry.

When Mount Vesuvius erupted in the year 79 AD, the poisonous gas, volcanic ash and debris killed the unsuspecting inhabitants of this summer retreat for the wealthy and powerful elite of Ancient Rome.

This volcanic eruption also preserved much of Pompeii, giving us a glimpse into how the other half of ancient Rome lived.

Menander, a man who is believed to be a playwright who owned a house in Pompeii, left behind a large amount to silver jewelry and other silver objects. This was so much silver in fact that his home is known as the Silver Treasury. This is interesting because certainly other residents of Pompeii had silver objects—there was a wealth of beautiful things found in Pompeii. So to call Menander’s home the Silver Treasury means that the concentration of silver in his home was high indeed.

If the pieces of silver that were found at Menander’s home as the city of Pompeii was being excavated are any indication, Menander was a wealthy man indeed. Pompeii was where he had his summer home. Who knows just how much silver was in Menander’s regular residence? It is possible that he and his family took all of the silver when they went to Pompeii for the summer. Or they may have left some of the silver at their regular home, thinking it unnecessary to take their entire silver treasury to Pompeii.

Those who were on the dig at Pompeii found silver jewelry, silver coins, including silver denarii, a type of coin that is mentioned in the Bible and 118 pieces of some rather exquisite silver plate. In addition to this they also found jewelry made of gold mixed with precious stones. Some of the silver jewelry and other silver objects from Menander’s home can be viewed as part of a traveling exhibit about Pompeii that is touring museums all over the country.

Obviously, Menander and his family had no choice but to leave their treasures to be discovered by the ages because they were victims of a terrible tragedy.

You, however, do have a choice. Menander’s treasury of silver was found wrapped up in the cellar. Is that where your silver is? Is it wrapped up in the basement or in the attic? Is it in a place where it cannot be used and where no one will see it?

If that is the case, why not sell your silver to a silver buyer? When you sell silver, you can get cash for silver, which is something you can most certainly use right now.

It has never really been clear how, but “My Favorite Things,” a song from the musical The Sound of Music has somehow become part of the Christmas canon. This song manages to take what could be just a list of preferences and makes it poetic.

This song the lists some of the singer’s favorite things really could be appropriate any time of year, but many artists include it on their Christmas albums. It also gets sung during Christmas concerts as well. In the movie, The Sound of Music, it certainly is not winter when the song is sung. However, the lyrics do mention one of the hallmarks of winter (at least winter in a cold climate) and that is “silver white winters that melt into springs.”

As I am originally from a cold climate, I can tell you that the vision of “silver white” winters is much more the ideal than reality. Snow does look silver white when it first falls, but after a while, after people have been out walking around on it and driving in it, the snow tends to loose its silver glow. Still, it does look lovely and silvery when it first falls and of course that is the part that is captured in the song.

Unlike the silver white snow that hits the ground and gets trudged upon, the silver jewelry and other silver objects you have are not likely to be walked or driven on, so they probably still have some of their original glow. When the silver white snow melts in the song, it turns into a much welcomed spring. And when you sell silver to a silver refiner, it can be melted down to bring you some very much wanted cash for silver.

There is a season for everything—there is a time for the silver white snow to be on display and a time when it has to melt. The same goes for your old silver. There was a time when you had large dinners that required the use of a lot of silver flatware, but if those days are over, then why not sell your unused silver flatware? Or if some of your silver jewelry has already seen its best days or is no longer in style, you can sell it and get instant cash for silver. Cash is always in style and no doubt, is one of your favorite things.

Not too long ago, I came across an article on the internet in which the writer was discussing how some well-meaning people are now on the lookout for “ethical” or fair-trade silver. Consumers who are concerned with how the environment and workers who help produce the things they buy are treated extend this concern to all items they buy, even silver jewelry. This is a noble way of thinking because although I am well aware that silver can be recycled and reused, it never occurred to be to think about fair-trade silver.

The writer admitted that when you buy silver commercially it is not easy to verify its origins. Nor is it easy to ascertain just how the earth and the workers who mined the silver were treated. Sadly, one known blight on the good name of silver is that mining silver not only brings up the desired precious metal: mining silver can also bring up a lot of arsenic. Mining companies do their best to contain the toxic substances that are a byproduct of mining silver, but there can be no guarantees.

The process of mining is by its very nature dangerous, so while a mining company makes great efforts to be careful, the very act of mining does come with some hazards–both for the environment and for the workers involved. One company was doing its very best to dispose of the toxic byproducts in a responsible way, but a break in the line cause the toxins to leak out. This is the less that shiny side of mining silver.

One way for those who like and admire silver jewelry but are concerned about how it is produced to avoid contributing to a possible environmental hazard is to by silver that is recycled.

Now when you buy silver that has been recycled, you still may not know its origins, but the idea is that you are not a part of the demand that invites miners to mine even more silver.

And if you want to add to the supply of silver that is available to be recycled, you can sell silver to a silver buyer. They will melt your silver down and it may eventually be re-used in jewelry of other silver items that someone can buy. Meanwhile you can take the cash for silver you get after selling your silver and buy something as well.

In England, before the thirteenth century, whoever owned the land that had silver bearing ores was in charge of the silver mines that operated there. (And since that person or those persons were responsible for the silver mine on the land they owned, they were also able to reap the profits from it.)

As is often the case, where there is money to be made, the government certainly wants its share. So in the middle of the thirteenth century, the Crown stepped in to assert some authority over silver mines.

In one case, that of the Mine of Carlisle, a silver mine was owned and operated by the miners themselves. Yes, there were employee-owned companies even in the 12th century. At this silver mine, the miners were in charge of operations and they made their own rules and regulations. The silver miners were responsible for giving part of the mine’s produce to the Crown. However, the Crown was not directly involved and had little say over how the silver was produced. Although the Crown was able to take its portion of silver to be used in the mint, they did not interfere in the day-to-day operations at the silver mine.

But then in the by the late 13th century, the Crown did take over control of some silver mines. The government decided to employ workers for these silver mines directly and those who supervised the workers were employees of the Crown.

Imagine what would happen if you owned land that had silver ore deposits that could be mined? These days, the government would want a share of the profits you receive from selling silver, but it is doubtful that the government would actually want some of the silver itself. Although, you never know. Silver is quite valuable. And in ancient times, people often paid their taxes in the form of crops or whatever product they harvested or produced.

You may not have land that has silver to be mined, but you surely have some silver in your home that you can sell: silver jewelry, a silver teapot, some silver cuff links. And when you sell silver to a silver buyer, you are in a sense running your own operation. You can call the shots and decide how much silver to sell and when to sell silver.

The music industry has changed so much with the dawn of the digital age. But one thing hasn’t changed—everyone still wants to sell a lot of music.

There was a time when people mostly bought singles–records with only one or two songs on them. Then came the era of the album–a time when artists were expected to record and people were expected to buy records with about a dozen songs on them. As you probably know all of the songs were not that good and some musicians and singers had a hard time coming up with enough good material to fill an entire album.

And of course now when we say album or record, we are really referring to a compact disc.

These days the music industry is still dealing with the changes that took place once people were able to download music from the internet.

One music critic recently compiled a list of the lowest-selling #1 albums. These albums hit the top of the charts, but they did not bring in heavy returns at the bank.

You’ve probably heard about the different categories for top-selling records, gold and platinum being the ones that most often make the news. There is also a diamond category and would you believe silver as well? The silver designation isn’t used universally, however. An album can only go silver in certain countries.

When the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is counting up units sold to name the albums that sell gold, silver, diamond or platinum, they include records tapes and CDS into the count.

Usually, if you are in the United States, you would need to sell 500,000 units to earn the gold label

To be certified platinum, an album must sell 1,000,000 units.

The RIAA has changed the criteria for certification numerous times, so it is a little hard to keep up. Plus, the number of units one must cell to be certified, gold, platinum, silver or diamond can vary, depending on the type of music.

If you are not gifted vocally, you can still managed to sell platinum, sell gold or sell silver, but in a very different way. When you sell your gold, platinum or silver jewelry, you can get cash for gold, cash for silver or cash for platinum.
